Located in northern Georgia about an hour and a half from Atlanta and not far from the border with Alabama, Rome, Georgia, is a classic and vibrant Southern city with plenty to see and do. The town is home to almost 35,000 and is named after the Italian city, complete with a replica of the statue of Romulus and Remus nursing from a mother wolf, a symbol of the original Rome, a gift from the Italian dictator Benito Mussolini to the city. The city is a large manufacturing one, with companies such as Brugg Cable and Telecom, Suzuki Manufacturing of America, auto-parts makers Neaton Rome and F+G Georgia, and the North American headquarters of Pirelli Tire. The most visible landmark in the town is Rome's tower clock,  a 100-foot tower that stands atop a grassy knoll and can be seen from almost any spot within the city's limits. Berry College, Shorter College, Georgia Highlands College and Coosa Valley Technical College serve students here, and Floyd Medical Center is another major employer. The arts scene is active, with Rome Little Theater, Rome Symphony Orchestra and three museums in the town. Another popular attraction is the Class A baseball team, the Rome Braves, and many attend games in the spring and summer.
