Situated in central North Carolina, the charming town of Spring Lake is located in Cumberland County and has a population of about 9,000 residents. Although the town received its current name of Spring Lake in 1923, it has been known is the past as "Clayton Cut" as well as "Prince's Siding." During the beginning of World War II, Spring Lake experienced rapid growth and development due to its proximity to Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The area was first settled by European settlers of Scottish descent during the 1700's, and they established the community as a thriving plantation village. Later in the early 1900's, the Rockefeller family purchased much of the land.
